    Chaos and Dreams

OK, I posted this before(3 years ago), but now I'm thinking of submitting it to something so I was hoping for some feedback. _____________________________________________ Pendulum The tears of a young girl, Drip onto paper, as women She calls sisters are ravaged Time and time again, in a land Far away. The ancient city, Drenched in blood for centuries Now once again calls for war. Youth, chained to machines, Living and dying in servitude to feed the greed of another. The spread of deception As if it were truth takes the world By storm. Planes into buildings, Death, blood, war. Young men Life cut short, blinded by hope Fed with fear, products of the megalomaniacal mind. She looks, Patiently, anxiously, fervently, frantically, But, There is no escape. From the sway between chaos and dreams.

    Marriage Cheat Sheet (for sisters)

I'm not sure if this is referring to me, but I'm unmarried. I don't however believe that this is relevant to what I mentioned. The crux of my comments were that this is the objectification of women and disrespectful. So basically (as I didn't see a response to anything I said) men naturally objectify women? and you think that's perfectly fine?

    Marriage Cheat Sheet (for sisters)

The better man will always be more attractive to a woman than her husband, admittedly or not = better stronger smarter healthier more successful offspring. The problem with all of this being that these are the rules of the animal kingdom. We're not animals, although we could reduce ourselves to such. There is indeed an animal aspect of our nature, but it is to be controlled by the higher aspects of our nature (the ones that separate us from animals and make us human). So basically, after the novelty of your wife wares off, you want a new play thing? Your wife is like your cellphone, its not so cool anymore after 6 months, so you want a new one to play around with? Where I come from, we call that objectification, and we look down on it. Maybe this is a cultural difference. Then they should work on those egos, and appreciate any help their wife offers. I've never heard having an ego described as a good thing in a religious or secular context. Marriage just isn't for me if men have such a hard time respecting women.

    religious differences and marriage

My option isn't even there. We have to have the same understanding of what Islam actually is (there are varying understandings as I have come to know), whether it be within the same school of thought or outside of it. That is much more important to me. Otherwise there would be friction when the children come along. A house divided against itself...

New muslims Trying to "modernize" islam.

the name of this thread is almost offensive.... As it is, I know more "born Muslims" who trying to modernize Islam than I know new Muslims. I think he types of statements should be directed at everyone.
  11. I would listen to whatever it is that they have to tell me all the while trying tomake them feel more comfortable, and at ease because if someone is suicidal then they're clearly in a state of despair. Then I would contact a professional, while not leaving that person alone etc. You never know if they're going to go straight back into that after you've talked to them. They might not like the fact that I've told someone, but in that situation its the best I could do.
