Homosexuals

Recommended Posts

So I recently was at a dawat and it was the first time I had ever heard an aunty say "gay". The aunties were talking about Gay adoption and stuff.

Living in Miami, we see them everywhere. University of Miami has one of the most active gay/lesbian group in the US.

I'm pretty much tolerant with them being around me, a lot of my friends are gay.

With regard to your culture upbringing/religious reasoning.. how do you act towards them and around them..

ALSO,

In regards to gay adoption, what do you think of it?

At first, I was all about Yeah, gay people have feelings too, let them adopt, they'll be good parents.. they actually want the child so they'll be better off with them instead of staying in dept. of children's control.

BUT THEN I thought that what if I had to give up my child (hypothetically speaking) would I want my child to grow up in that environment?

So yeah, what do you think?

homosexuality is haraam...

first of all, gay ppl are NOT born gay, second, its disgusting...

Allah has guaranteed gay ppl hellfire, thats wat all scholars have told me so far, Al-Falah and Ozair may know the exact hadith/source...

i dont believe in gay rights, and according to most scholars, homosexuality in an Islamic state is a federal crime punishable by death...

Yeah I know that much.

But they're still there, and you still have to deal with them.

doesnt mean u need to accept their beliefs...

and i dont agree that u should be friends with them...

homosexuality is a social desease, whcih requires muslims to stay away from it...

as for the adoption, i DEF dont think it should be allowed, it would waste more children to grow up on homosexuality...

I don't think that a generalisation can be made about all gay people choosing to homosexual; for some, there are suggestions it may be genetic, for others they may actively choose to live that way, and others are just socialised into it. Certainly differences in brain structure between homosexual and heterosexual men have been discovered (no one seems to know whether they are the cause or result of homosexuality tho). However, that's not the point - the point is that the act of having sex with someone of the same gender is haraam. Not the feelings, but the actual act. So we may not be able to control our genes, but we certainly can control our actions.

Also, just because one's parents are gay, does not mean the child will grow up to be gay!

Even in an Islamic State, I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong), the only way someone can be punished for homosexuality is if four adult eyewitnesses are produced who will testify to seeing the act, or a confession obtained without duress from the people involved. If someone accuses another of homosexuality, but cannot produce the evidence, then I think they are subjected to physical punishment, and their testimony is rejected forever after that for slander.

I do not agree with gay adoption, but I can certainly see how my points would not come across as valid to someone who is a secularist, as they simply don't have the same vision of society that Islaam promotes.

So, to that extent I believe in gay rights - that someone who keeps their private life private should not be made to endure harrassment. I know a few gay people, and it doesn't bother me particularly; and I am only ever rude to people who are rude to me first: I am a 'live and let live' kind of person. Random thought - what was the aunties' opinion, waju?

Interesting thing to think about - people always get worked up about gays. Everyday we interact and are friends with people who are fornicators, blasphemers, and so on, but it's homosexuality that gets the most revulsion Why? :D

Bah. Long post, apologies.

ma asalaamah and take care

no homosexual person is BORN gay, its impossible... that is for sure...

ur right to say the testimony needs to be there and the punishment for false testimony... but if four of u witness the act, and dont say anything about it, u will be punished on the day of judgement...

i strongly believe that the child that is adopted by gay parents will grow up gay in the majority of cases, just as christian parents bring up christian kids, same with judaism, Islam, and almost all other religions... u may argue that homosexuality is not a religion, but it is indeed a way of living...

ur also right that we interact with fornicators and such everyday, but we dont have knowledge as to who exactly is fornicating or committing zina or watever, but u know a gay person when u see one, especially nowdays when they are so proud to say so...

even if we do interact with fornicators, it doesnt make interacting with homosexuals right...

Consider biological defects though. Harmophrodites for instance. But yeah, those are defects and not the natural trend of things. Still, what about them?

biological defect is NOT responsible for homosexuality... Social/Environmental manipulation of people's minds are responsible for the evolution of homosexuality.. people are born with a natural tendency to be attracted to the opposite sex..

Being hemaphrodite doesnt make u homosexual.. it is merely the presence of both sexual organs.. they can choose to live as normal humans do, by going thru surgical procedures.. and there is more to it..

Homosexuality is merely a play of the mind..

Let's not draw any conclusions on whether homosexuality is exclusively genetic or environmental. Genetics is as unknown territory as it is a rapidly progressing field. Plus you can't trust what people say these days. I'm as inclined to believe as anyone is that its socially influenced, but seriously, how can merely social influence perverse a natural instinct such as sex?
