I think the lecture is available only on Bayyinah TV.

So what do you make of it Hakpooh?

we don't interpret each word this literally even when it comes to Quran or Hadith all the time. And we are talking about Umar's recount of his past dialog. So we don't know if we have a verbatim dialog. Also, we don't know if Umar RA meant exactly what he said, or there was some hyperbole. He could have easily meant that Prophet SAW doesn't love Hafsa (RA) as much.

Furthermore the dialog happened when everyone was shaken and grieved. When people are grieving they tend to bring up miserable things. Umar RA would have been torn between his love for the prophet SAW and his daughter. On the other hand he would also feel angry about his daughter's role in angering the Prophet SAW. If any other muslim spoke to the prophet in the angry manner that his wives spoke, that would mean kufr. And Umar RA have taken out his sword few times ready to roll heads, when prophet SAW was not treated with due dignity by some people.

So overall, while it's not clear if what he said is hurtful, even if it was hurtful it was said in a moment of calamity. Trying to read parenting etiquette is over the top.

Listen to YQ's lecture, and Veno's second paragraph mostly becomes irrelevant. Some time lines are confused by Veno I think. Also, we know Hafsa RA is rebuked because it is her father that is recalling the story. (Umar RA would not go and rebuke some one else's daughter). Trying to read unfair treatment between wives based on one person's narrative is WRONG.

Why didn't you say all this earlier, Haku? That's actually a very good explanation.
